19 January 2015

In Ramadi, security forces, especially the 'Golden Division' have repelled a broad attack by ISIL gunmen from the city's southwestern sector, killing 15 of the gunmen according to an announcement by Anbar Operations.

Security forces report that they definitively seized control of 3 villages between Baghdadi and Haditha, and have cleared all the mines and explosive devices planted by ISIL gunmen, thus clearing the road between the two towns.

In Baghdadi, although the town was relatively calm, gunmen did launch an attack southwest of the town, in the sector across the river from the town. Yesterday, two ISIL Chinese women were captured and taken to an undisclosed location, and at least 17 gunmen were killed in the attack southwest of Baghdadi.

In Fallujah, gunfire and bombardment exchanges have continued throughout the night and into the early hours of this morning, leaving 6 residents killed and 19 injured, among them a woman, according to a source at the city's general hospital.

In Amiriyat Al-Fallujah, tribal leaders have once again called for their fighters to be provided with arms and ammunition, particularly in ISIL-controlled areas of Anbar Province.

Official statements from the Anbar Council indicate that members of the Anbar delegation in Washington DC have met with U.S. military officials. Partial agreement has been reached on arming and recruiting tribal forces, aimed at preventing the renewed capture by ISIL of the Province's cities and towns. Following the return of the delegation, decisions will be made regarding military operations aimed at liberating ISIL-controlled areas, especially Fallujah city.
