In Baghdadi today, ISIL gunmen have assaulted a number of military barracks on the southwestern edges of the town, using 4 explosives-rigged vehicles, two of which were blown up by security forces before they reached their targets. Fierce clashes ensued, also involving Iraqi air support that struck several ISIL positions. The security situation in the area is one of caution, following reports of an imminent ISIL assault on the residential complex from areas across the river from the town.

Security forces, tribal fighters, and People’s Mobilization volunteers are engaged in fierce clashes in and around Garma, following the success of the joint forces in taking control of most of the areas between Garma and the Salahuddin - Samarra boundary.
The Defense Minister visited the liberated areas in Garma township where he undertook to provide the tribal forces with the weapons they need to hold the ground.

In Ramadi, the city is still fully blockaded amid reports of an impending military operation within the coming days, following the reinforcing and re-arming of the security forces around the city.

Iraqi and Coalition aircraft have carried out strikes in the Bu-Farraj area and on towards Shjariya, as well as the industrial and central districts of Ramadi. Casualty figures are not yet known.

In Fallujah, the General Hospital reported today that 3 residents were killed and 9 wounded by the ongoing indiscriminate bombardment exchanges into and out of the city.

Military operations are still underway in a number of districts in Ramadi: security forces and Iraqi gun ships have killed an ISIL commander and 3 of his aides in the Jazeera area.
Operations in the eastern Sufiya area have enabled security forces to advance deep into the town, but ISIL resistance and counterattacks have been slowing the advance; security forces have reported that at least 13 gunmen have been killed there.
Operations are also continuing in Ramadi’s southern sector Hawz and adjacent districts toward the government complex in the city center where Iraqi air support has prevented the gunmen from reaching the complex.
Meanwhile life is back to normal in the city’s central districts, with substantial activity in the public marketplaces.
Also today, security forces have launched a number of attacks in the Bu-Farraj area in northernmost Ramadi. Operations began today in the Shjariya area and have made advances with the deployment of military equipment and vehicles into Ramadi.

In Baghdadi and its surrounding areas, military reinforcements have also been deployed in preparation for a major military operation on Baghdadi and Hit township, with the aim of liberating these areas from the ISIL presence.

In Fallujah, a General Hospital source reported a short time ago that 6 residents have been killed and 6 wounded by the ongoing random bombardment exchanges between security forces around the city and the ISIL gunmen within the city that they have been holding for more than a year.

Military operations are still underway in the Bu-Farraj areas east of Ramadi where major reinforcements have now been deployed; two regiments of Emergency Police forces have reached the outskirts of the town, but ISIL has committed a number of atrocities in the town center, by executing at least 18 security forces personnel, having taken them by surprise and cornering them inside a residential home. They were shot to death today in the Bu-Farraj center. ISIL gunmen also detonated a booby-trapped vehicle today on the Bu-Farraj Bridge linking the town with Ramadi City. ISIL The gunmen are now fully in control of the areas across the Euphrates, following their seizure of the surrounding areas. Meanwhile, hundreds of families have fled Bu-Farraj to the residential districts within Ramadi where they are sheltering in the schools and mosques under harsh living conditions.
Coalition warplanes and Iraqi air support have carried out strikes throughout today and into this evening, targeting numerous positions in the Bu-Farraj and adjacent areas.

The local Anbar government confirmed today that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has ordered security forces to urgently dispatch military aid to Ramadi, and some military equipment has indeed arrived today, but the various people’s militias have today withdrawn from the Shjariya area toward the Habbaniya Base.

Meanwhile military operations have moved to Ramadi’s southern sector where security forces have succeeded in establishing control of the Hawz and adjacent districts and on  and on towards the northwestern districts. Iraqi air support has been used in attacking targets in western Ramadi.

In Amiriyat al-Fallujah, more than 30 mortar rounds have struck overnight numerous targets in the town’s southwestern sector. Ten civilians have been wounded in the town that is experiencing severe food shortages.


In Fallujah, the situation is relatively calm; some mortar rounds have struck the city but no casualties have been reported by the city’s general hospital.

In the continuing military operations in the Shjariya area east of Ramadi, security forces have secured all of those areas. The forces and the Anbar Council have confirmed that large numbers of ISIL gunmen have fled toward Hamidhiya, southwest of Shjariya.
Security forces have killed at least 23 gunmen, according to Anbar Operations sources.

Also today, Faleh al-Issawi, the Deputy Anbar Council leader, confirmed that Hezbollah units have taken part in the operations that liberated the Shjariya area. More volunteers are also expected to take part in the campaign to liberate Anbar from the ISIL gunmen.
Meanwhile the ‘Golden’ Division’s antiterrorist and rapid-deployment units have carried out a broad operation in the southern districts of Ramadi, specifically advancing to Hawz district.
Iraqi air support has also launched attacks all along the stretch between the southern and northwestern sectors of Ramadi, and security forces have also killed at least 11 gunmen, and at least 3 ISIL snipers were killed when the building they were using was targeted.
Meanwhile Sheikh Na’eem al-Gu’ud, an Anbar tribal elder, announced that ISIL have executed more than 300 al-Qaim residents, having accused them of cooperating with security forces and providing them with intelligence. They had been held in secret ISIL prisons in al-Qaim. The report has not yet been confirmed by either local or external Anbar government sources.

Military operations in Fallujah are continuing; the mobile communications network has been restored, after it had been shut down for more than 48 hours.
A General Hospital source has reported that 14 residents, including women and children, have been killed by the random bombardment exchanges during the past two days, and at least 24 have been wounded by the mortar exchanges between security forces around the city’s perimeter and the gunmen still holding the city.

In Garma, military operations are still underway; the town is fully surrounded amid reports suggesting that a security forces’ assault on the town is imminent.

Military operations are continuing in Baghdadi township: security forces have reported that a broad security operation was launched in the early hours of this morning in the western and southern sectors of the town. More than 5,000 security fighters with Iraqi and coalition air support are involved. The forces have taken control of some of the town's principal government buildings, but some ISIL gunmen are still in position on the roofs of the taller buildings.

Anbar Operations sources are reporting that coalition warplanes carried out attacks that have killed at least 45 gunmen along the town's southern perimeter and in the areas between Baghdadi and Haditha.

Meanwhile, 3 children have died after drinking sulfur-tainted water drawn from wells in the residential complex in Baghdadi. 4 residents have also died because of the medicinal shortages in the complex. 30 tons of food supplies are reported to have reached Baghdadi via the Ayn al-Asad military base, dispatched by the central government. A major evacuation is reported underway from Baghdadi, either aboard Iraqi aircraft or on foot, to Hit and Haditha Townships., and also by air to Baghdad. Yesterday and today about 1,000 families have been involved in this migration.

In Ramadi, Col. Hameed al-Shandoog, a local Anbar police officer, reported that ISIL has launched a broad operation against the government complex in central Ramadi, advancing from the city's southern sector. The attack was thwarted by the combined efforts of the security forces, Iraqi air support, and coalition airstrikes. 19 gunmen have been killed at the scene. In Shjariya in northeastern Ramadi, security operations are continuing amid fierce clashes erupted today when ISIL gunmen attempted to move back into the area but were met with fierce resistance by security forces deployed there.

In Fallujah, the general hospital has announced today that 2 residents have been killed and 3 wounded by the random exchanges of mortar fire.


In Garma, clashes are again underway in the township's industrial zone, with coalition warplanes carrying out a number of raids on ISIL positions and facilities, and at least 33 of the gunmen were killed.

Military operations are continuing in Baghdadi, especially in the southern and southwestern areas of the town, as ISIL has redeployed its forces and re-taken control of the town's center. The leader and members of the local council have called for speedy action in providing additional security forces to liberate the residential district housing 2,500 families of the security forces and of the administrative leaders of the township. Meanwhile, an Anbar Council source has announced that ISIL has executed 26 Baghdadi residents who had been abducted two days ago. The executions were carried out in Rawa.
Security forces have meanwhile re-taken government buildings in western Baghdadi. Iraqi aircraft supported by coalition warplanes have struck a number of ISIL positions in southwestern Baghdadi.
Yesterday, an armored brigade has reached the Ayn al-Asad base to take part in the military operations in and around Baghdadi.
Reports are filtering through that the humanitarian situation in the township is severe: there is no water, no food, no baby milk, while 7 wounded residents have died, given the absence of medical facilities in the township. 260 others are described as being in a critical condition.

In Ramadi, a broad security operation is underway in the city's southern sector, and has turned back an ISIL offensive in the area. Anbar Operations are reporting that 9 gunmen were killed in the fighting. Operations are also continuing on the opposite banks of the Euphrates, in the Shjariya area.

In Fallujah, a medical source has reported today that 2 residents have been killed and 4 wounded with the resumption of the indiscriminate exchanges of mortar fire between the ISIL gunmen within the city and the security forces around its perimieter.


In Garma and the other areas lying between Anbar Province and the capital, Baghdad, coalition warplanes have concentrated their attacks on the southern reaches of the area. An ISIL bomb-making plant and training ground were also hit. Coalition air power has also struck areas around Hit, killing 9 gunmen, including two locally- based commanders.

It was announced today that the ISIL military 'Wali' in the Jazeera area at Al-Tharthar, Jubayir Al-Algawi, and six of his aides were killed when tribal fighters in the area carried out an attack supported by security forces in the area. A security source has also stated that security forces have taken control of the areas around the Tharthar barrage opposite Ramadi city.
In a further announcement, two ISIL leaders in the Shjariya area, one a Chinese national and the other a Bengali national, were killed when ISIL gunmen attempted to re-take control of Shjariya in a three-pronged attack against security forces in the area repelled the attack, helped by Iraqi air support.

In the Birwana area of Haditha township, ISIL gunmen launched an attack on the area but were driven back by tribal fighters and security forces.

Coalition warplanes today carried out a number of strikes on Al-Qaim in western Anbar on the Iraqi-Syrian border, on the Garma area, and on the areas around Fallujah. Initial Anbar Operations casualty reports indicate that at least 33 ISIL gunmen were killed by the strikes. Meanwhile preparations are underway for an imminent major assault on Hit, according to security and police sources.

In Ramadi's southern sector, broad-based clashes are underway in the sector's residential districts where security forces supported by the 'Golden Division' have repelled a new ISIL attack.

Regarding the incident two days ago in which an armed 'people's fighter' killed two Ramadi civilians, three suspects have been arrested today and taken to the Anbar Operations command. The arrests came in the wake of major demonstrations in Ramadi and Amiriyat Al-Fallujah demanding the removal of the paramilitaries from Anbar, while demanding that the province's own fighters be armed and supplied. The demonstrators stressed that, unless the accused are brought to justice, they would desist from fighting against ISIL.

A number of mortar rounds have struck Haditha township, killing 3 children and wounding 4 other people, according to a local council source.

In the Hawz district of southern Ramadi, a military operation has killed at least 13 ISIL gunmen. Anbar Operations has reported that security forces have pushed into the district.

A military operation in Birwana, across the river from Haditha, has spread into the areas adjacent to Baghdadi. Security forces killed 7 ISIL gunmen.

Coalition warplanes have attacked targets in the Akashat area on the Iraqi-Syrian border at Al-Qaim. Reports indicate that 6 gunmen commanders were killed in the attack.

In eastern Ramadi, a broad military operation in a number of the sector's districts around Shjariya toward Khalidiya and on toward Habbaniya. An Anbar Police source has confirmed that security forces are making significant advances, somewhat delayed by the ubiquitous mines and explosive devices planted by the gunmen.

In Fallujah, a General Hospital source has reported that 4 residents have been killed and 16 wounded by the ongoing bombardment exchanges between the gunmen holding the city and security forces around its perimeter.

Confirmed reports out of Anbar Operations show that coalition warplanes have carried out strikes in Garma and its environs. Latest reports show that at least 3 ISIL gunmen were killed, including an ISIL commander in the Garma area.

In Amiriyat Al-Fallujah, indiscriminate mortar fire on the township's residential districts is continuing for the fourth consecutive day, wounding at least 2 residents.

Meetings were held today between the Anbar local government led by Governor Suhaib Al-Rawi, and Prime Minister Hayder Al-Abadi in Baghdad. The Governor's media office says that positive results were achieved, including the central government's approval for the import of U.S. weaponry into Anbar Province via the Baghdad Central Government's channels. A separate meeting with the Interior Minister discussed the disbursement of security forces' salaries in Anbar.

The Anbar Operations Command has announced today that coalition warplanes have successfully carried out a strike on Akashat on the Iraqi-Syrian border, killing the ISIL western Anbar 'Emir' , Abu Hajir Al-Shimmary, and six of his companions who were on their way from Syrian territory through the border post at Al-Qaim.

In Baghdadi, Col. Sha'aban Al-Obaidi, the SWAT commander in the township, has announced that coalition warplanes have carried out several strikes on the Jubba area of the township, killing at least 23 ISIL gunmen in the western and northwestern sectors of Baghdadi.

In Nu'aymiya, south of Fallujah, coalition warplanes carried out a number of missions, killing 9 ISIL gunmen. The strikes have foiled ISIL's plans to advance on both Ramadi and Fallujah and their surrounding areas.

In Ramadi, the Operations commander, Qassim Al-Dulaimy, announced that a wide military operation is due to be launched in the areas around the city within the next few hours. The operation is to complement the ongoing military operation in Shjariya, northeast of Ramadi. Al-Dulaimy added that the province is relatively calm, but some districts in its southern sector are still experiencing running battles between security forces and ISIL gunmen.

In Baghdadi, there are reports that 2 children have died as a result of the severe shortages caused by the embargo imposed on the town by the gunmen. The townspeople are calling for immediate action by the central government to deliver relief aid to Baghdadi.

In Fallujah, a General Hospital source has reported that 2 residents have been killed and 9 wounded by the continuing indiscriminate bombardment exchanges.

In Amiriyat Al-Fallujah, at least 10 mortar rounds have indiscriminately struck residential districts in the town.

An Anbar Operations source has announced that coalition warplanes have targeted the ISIL headquarters located in a cement plant in Al-Qaim at the Iraqi-Syrian border. The source added that at least 25 ISIL gunmen were killed in the strike, including some western Anbar field commanders.

Iraqi air strikes have also struck ISIL positions in the Hsayba area of Khalidiya Island northeast of Ramadi.

Operations are continuing for the fourth consecutive day in the Shjariya area, having expanded into the opposite bank of the Euphrates.

In Ramadi, a number of ISIL mortar rounds have struck the Anbar water plant in the city's center. The Director General of Anbar Water and Sewerage was wounded as a result. There has been major structural damage at the plant consequently, Ramadi and the areas provided with water from the plant have had their water supply cut.

In Fallujah, a General Hospital source has announced today that 2 residents have been killed and 7 wounded by the resumption of the indiscriminate bombardment exchanges.


In Anbar's western regions, ISIL gunmen are still trying to penetrate and assault Haditha and the areas around Baghdadi, but security forces have turned back the attackers.

ISIL has successfully detonated a booby-trapped fuel tanker near the hospitality structure of Sheikh Lawrence Al-Hadhal, an influential tribal leader and former parliamentary member. The attack in the Nukhaib area killed the Sheikh and five of his relatives gathered at the location.

In the Shjariya area northeast of Ramadi, security forces have this morning successfully taken control of the three major axes in the area, killing at least 17 ISIL gunmen. The surrounding areas have been bombarded and many explosive devices planted by the gunmen have been diarmed and cleared.

The Anbar Operations command announced a short while ago that coalition warplanes have launched their fiercest strikes to date on ISIL positions in Al-Qaim, on the Iraqi-Syrian border. No casualty counts have yet been reported.

Fierce clashes have been underway since yesterday in the Falahat region of Eastern Anbar against ISIL forces by security forces supported by tribal fighters; 8 gunmen were reported killed in the fighting around the Fallujah perimeter.

In Garma, 9 ISIL gunmen have been killed in clashes in and around the township.


Overall, according to security sources, security forces are now on the offensive with the aim - over the next few days - of clearing the ISIL gunmen out of Anbar Province.

The Anbar SWAT commander, Col. Sha'atan Al-Obaidi, has announced that his forces, supported by tribal fighters, have established control of all the villages in Baghdadi township between Hit and Haditha, including the area across the Euphrates from Baghdadi town. Fierce clashes erupted this morning in which all medium and heavy weapons were deployed, and at least 13 ISIL gunmen were killed in the fighting.

Direct flights between the Ayn Al-Asad Base and the capital, Baghdad, have transported hundreds of civilians wanting to leave Baghdadi.

In Ramadi, violent clashes erupted when ISIL gunmen attempted to penetrate into the city from its southern sector. Security forces supported by coalition warplanes and Iraqi air units have repelled a number of attacks between dawn today and into the afternoon. Anbar Operations sources report that 3 ISIL snipers positioned on the roofs of buildings in Hawz district were killed.
To the northeast, a secondary military operation in the rural tribal areas; security forces have taken control of the industrial zones near the banks of the Euphrates, across from Ramadi city. In the Shjariya fighting today, 23 ISIL gunmen have been reported killed and at least 100 explosive devices have been disarmed in a number of homes.

In Fallujah, a General Hospital source has reported today that 4 residents were killed and 7 wounded by the indiscriminate shelling between ISIL gunmen holding the city and security forces around its perimeter.

In Garma. violent clashes erupted in the area lying between Anbar and Salahuddin Provinces, and in the township's industrial zone. Incoming mortar fire on a number of the town's residential districts has wounded 7 residents.

In Amiriyat Al-Fallujah, at least 20 ISIL mortar rounds have struck the township, wounding 4 civilians. There have also been clashes in the areas between the township and the boundary of neighboring Babil Province.


Coalition warplanes have again struck at a number of ISIL convoys in western Anbar. Security sources report that many of the gunmen were killed by the airstrikes.

The Anbar Police Commander, Gen. Kadhum Al-Fahdawi, announced today that security forces have established control over the Bu-Ghanim area of northeastern Ramadi, while fighting is still underway since last night in the Shjariya area. Gen. Fahdawi added that security forces have taken control of the industrial zone in Shjariya and that at least 7 gunmen have been killed there. More than 300 explosive devices have also been disarmed.

Ramadi city has been relatively quiet today, but fierce clashes are underway in the city's southern sector. A security source stressed that ISIL forces had intended to launch an attack on central Ramadi from the south but security forces have succeeded in turning them back and in killing at least 11 of the gunmen.

In western Anbar, the Anbar Operations commander has announced that coalition warplanes have carried out a number of missions on areas around Haditha. Reports indicate that about 50 ISIL gunmen were killed in convoys making their way from the Syrian border, via Al-Qaim, Ana, and Rawa.

In the Garma area, major military operations have taken place in the township's industrial zone; at least 23 ISIL gunmen have been killed in the fighting.

In Fallujah, mortar fire is still falling into the city, amid the ongoing bombardment exchanges. 8 residents have been injured in several of the city's residential districts.


A meeting at the Anbar Council among tribal elders and religious scholars has been reviewing the security situation in the province, amid calls for a popular mobilization to fight against ISIL.

An Anbar Operations source has announced today that coalition warplanes have targeted an ISIL convoy on the Iraqi-Syrian border, killing 6 gunmen, including a member of the ISIL leadership.
Coalition warplanes have also launched strikes on Ramadi's perimeter, killing 23 ISIL gunmen.

Clashes resumed today in the Khasfa area that lies between Haditha and Ana. Clashes involving 4 ISIL snipers have resulted in the killing of an officer of the 7th Division.
Military operations on the perimeter around Haditha, specifically across the Euphrates from the town have totally secured the area between Alous and Haditha.

Military operations are also continuing, aimed at liberating the Shjariyah area northeast of Ramadi. The Anbar Police commander announced today that 95% of the area is now secure, with some snipers still in position on a number of rooftops. The road linking the area with Ramadi city has also been secured.

In Ramadi, ISIL gunmen attempted to penetrate into the city from the southern Hawz district; however security forces and the intervention of coalition warplanes have turned back the attack. A number of buildings in the Anbar University complex have also come under fire today; at least 50 ISIL gunmen in what has become their Ramadi headquarters were killed.

In Fallujah, a General Hospital source has announced today that 2 residents have been killed and 11 wounded in the resumption of the daily indiscriminate bombardment exchanges. 

Clashes have also resumed in the areas in and around Garma, particularly in the town's industrial zone. Coalition warplanes and Iraqi air support have launched a number of strikes against ISIL positions there, killing a number of the gunmen.


A conference in Anbar including tribal elders, religious scholars, and local government members has stressed the need for a popular mobilization of Anbar citizens, to be supplied by the central government with arms, ammunition, and training, in order to carry on the fight against the ISIL gunmen in the province.

Security forces with Iraqi air support have taken full control of three villages in the areas around Haditha township in the direction of Baghdadi. The forces killed 11 ISIL gunmen in heavy clashes.

In Baghdadi, security forces have repelled an ISIL attack in the township's southwestern sector, killing 3 of the gunmen in the area across the Euphrates leading to Haditha.

In Ramadi, fierce clashes broke out today when ISIL gunmen attempted to penetrate into the city's western districts. The attack was repelled and 17 gunmen were killed in the fighting, according to Anbar Operations sources.

Fierce clashes also erupted today in Ramadi's southern sector, where security forces have seized control of several districts.
In Shujariya, security forces have established full control of that area and have disabled and removed more than 100 explosive devices planted by the ISIL gunmen.

In Fallujah, the General Hospital has stated that 4 residents, including a woman and a child, have been killed and 17, most of them women and children, have been wounded as result of the bombardment exchanges. 

Clashes have also resumed in the industrial zone in Garma; the clashes spread into Amiriyat Al-Fallujah Township. The town has resisted an ISIL attack launched yesterday and continued through the early hours of this morning. At least 11 gunmen were killed in the foiled attempt.

An Anbar delegation, including the Council Leader, the Governor, and tribal elders has departed for Washington D.C. where they will exchange views on the security situation in the Province. There are also reports that the American presence in Anbar and the possibility of forming new 'Awakenings' and an Anbar National Guard  will also be discussed.

In Haditha, coalition warplanes have attacked an ISIL convoy on its way from western Anbar toward Haditha township. A source at Anbar Operations has reported that the entire convoy was destroyed and dozens of ISIL gunmen have been killed.

Sources at Anbar Operations and the Police Command are reporting that the Iraqi army's 29th Division, supported by tribal fighters and coalition air support, has established a cordon around Rutba township in western Anbar. It appears that a military assault on Rutba aimed at liberating it from ISIL's grasp is imminent. The township has been under ISIL control for nearly nine months.

In Baghdadi, a broad military operation in southern Baghdadi has resulted in the recapture of large areas across the Euphrates from Baghdadi town.

In Anbar, security forces have reported that they, supported by tribal forces, have seized control of the Shjariyah area of eastern Ramadi. The forces have today disarmed more than 500 explosive devices planted by ISIL gunmen in the area between Shjariyiah and Khalidyah, in the northern and northeastern sectors of Ramadi.

In Fallujah, bombardment exchanges betwen ISIL gunmen within the city and the security forces surrounding it have, according to sources at the General Hospital, killed 13 residents including 4 women and a child, and wounded 17 others, mostly women and children.

ISIL gunmen today launched mortar attacks on the Amiriyat Al-Fallujah township's residential districts, wounding at least 11 civilians.

In Ramadi, fighting in the city's southern sector has intensified today. Security sources are reporting that so far their forces have killed at least 14 ISIL gunmen, as the forces advanced into the Hawz district.

In the rural area across the Euphrates, fierce fighting has been continuing while coalition warplanes launched strikes at specific targets in the area, killing at least 52 gunmen, according to Anbar Operations sources.

In Shjariya in eastern Ramadi, clashes intensified today in that area which has been held by the gunmen, security forces have defused explosive devices in at least 10 residences. The road between Shjariya and Khalidiya has also been cleared and liberated.
