ISIL gunmen have attacked Ramadi on two fronts: in the north
and in the south. There was also a third incursion from the area east of the
city. The first attack, in northern Ramadi, involved the areas between the
Jaraisha area to the north and Ramadi city; security forces repelled the
attack, killing at least 3 ISIL gunmen and were able to advance into the
ISIL-held areas.
Meanwhile, the attack in the southern sector was also turned
back by security forces.
The third attack was within Sufiya township east of Ramadi;
security forces with Iraqi air support bombarded an ISIL concentration in the
area.
The other Ramadi districts – particularly in the city’s
central area – have been relatively calm and its marketplaces have been active.
In Fallujah, the central residential districts have been
under heavy bombardment since yesterday – part of the ongoing indiscriminate
bombardment exchanges between security forces along the city’s perimeter and
the ISIL gunmen within the city. Casualty reports show that 10 residents,
including women and children, have been killed and at least 15 wounded.
