The central residential districts in Ramadi have been
relatively calm today following the return of more than 200 families to their
homes between yesterday and today. Meanwhile, military operations are continuing in the areas
around Ramadi, especially in the eastern Sufiya area where security forces have
been able to penetrate deep into the town. Iraqi gun ships have also been in
action there today, carrying out strikes against positions held by ISIL gunmen,
of whom at least 17 have been killed according to Anbar Operations reports.
Military operations have also been continuing in the
Bu-Farraj area and on towards the areas around the government complex in
central Ramadi, and further on toward the city’s southwestern districts that are
now controlled by security forces.
In Fallujah, the General Hospital announced today that 3
residents have been killed and 6 wounded by the continuing random bombardment
exchanges between security forces along the city’s perimeter and the ISIL
gunmen holding the city itself.
In Garma, most of its areas are under security forces’
control in and around the town where explosive devices planted by the gunmen
are still being disarmed and cleared in the booby-trapped houses.
In Habbaniya, the volunteer receiving center was opened
today to receive tribal volunteers for training at the Habbaniya Base. More
than 1,500 tribal fighters have completed their training in Amiriyat
al-Fallujah, and more than 2,000 more have been accepted for training so that
they can join their brethren of the tribal forces.
