In northeastern Ramadi, military operations are continuing
in the Bu-Farraj area; an Anbar Operations source has announced that security
forces have successfully repelled four ISIL attacks, and have taken control of
the town’s southern sector – about 30% of the total area. Meanwhile, security
forces have mined and booby-trapped the roads leading into the town. Coalition
warplanes and Iraqi air support have launched strikes against a number of the
gunmen’s positions in the area and security sources have reported that at least
77 gunmen were killed in the Bu-Farraj and surrounding areas.
Security forces have also repelled an ISIL attack in the
southern Ramadi Hawz district and adjacent districts. Four gunmen were killed in
the fighting.
ISIL gunmen have also attempted today to penetrate into
Ramadi city from its western sector, but security forces with Iraqi air support
have bombarded the ISIL-controlled areas from which the attack was launched.
In Fallujah, ISIL gunmen have been taking security
precautions in advance of the imminently expected military operation to retake
the city.
Meanwhile, 6 residents have been killed and 11 wounded by
the ongoing random bombardment exchanges between security sources around the
city’s perimeter and the ISIL gunmen holding the city.
In Garma, security forces today launched a major military
operation against the town center, following the exodus of hundreds of families
from the town. Security forces have reported making advances into the town but
have not yet reached its center.
